Two Countries Separated By A Common Language...Again

BBC gives us this:

A man is seriously ill in hospital after being shot by firearms officers in north London. [emphasis added]

In the States would wouldn't say this guy was "ill." We'd say "Dude, you've been shot!"

We're weird that way.
