How Is The "Post-Partisan" Bullshit Working For You?

Maybe the amount of animus young Democrats felt for LBJ rivals it, but I have to say President Obama has done everything in his power to make bile the currency of the day and poison the political culture of this country. That he has managed to polarize this country politically more than anytime since the 19th Century is scarcely to be believed.

Democrats seem to be oblivious to the tonnage of sheer unadulterated hate they have coming their way, and given the immoral and corrupt way they are governing they will have deserved every ounce of it.

How Jonathan Bornstein Saved Honduras (The Country, Not The Soccer Team)

It may have pissed off various left-of-center scumbags, like under-talented Honduran player Amado Guevara, and so-called "policy experts" (as well as dictators in Venezuela and Cuba, and the friends of said dictators in Washington and San José, Costa Rica) when Jonathan Bornstein of the US Mens National Team scored late in injury time to knock Costa Rica out of the World Cup (yep, I'm predicting Uruguay wipes the field with them) AND propelled embattled Honduras into the World Cup finals...but I was exultant.

Here you have little Honduras, standing up to the heinously immoral hectoring and threats of the United States and the United Nations in defense of their Constitution and in defense of all small countries to remain independent of the behemoths who would crush them for whatever reason moves them, getting rewarded by the fates with an improbable sporting victory. It is the irony of ironies that it would be a team from the United States, whose government has seen fit to declare itself, not the Honduran Supreme Court, the supreme legal authority in Honduras, that would secure passage to South Africa for Los Catrachos, capping a come back from a two goal deficit to do so in the dying seconds of the game.

It is an irony, but a delicious one.

Here is Bornstein doing his job:

Here is the celebration in Honduras:

Good luck to Honduras in the World Cup, and good luck hanging onto the independence of your nation.

And, if you remember it, send Jonathan Bornstein a little something special.

Interpretation

Here is what Prof. Paul Rahe says:

There is, [Charles Krauthammer] argues, an intimate connection between the foreign policy being pursued by the Obama administration and its domestic policy. The work undertaken in the domestic sphere by what I have called "Obama's wrecking crew" will, he points out, put a stop to the pattern of dynamic economic growth that made it possible for the United States to defeat Japan, contribute decisively to the defeat of Nazi Germany, contain communism, and ultimately defeat and prepare the way for the dismemberment of the Soviet Union.

It will produce economic stagnation of the sort that the Europeans have suffered from for decades, and it will eventuate in a collapse of the American dollar

This, as Krauthammer shows, Obama and his minions understand, and this they want -- the elimination of the foundations for American hegemony and the crippling of this country. They regard the role that we have thus far played in the world as shameful; they are intent on dismembering the alliances that gave us our heft in the world; and they are not only appeasing our sworn enemies but openly, publicly embracing them and their agenda.

This explains the praise showered on President Obama by Vladimir Putin, Hugo Chavez, and Fidel Castro. This is the meaning of our attempt to install a dictator in the Honduras on the model of Castro and Chavez; it is the meaning of our recent betrayal of Poland -- on the 70th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of that country.

It explains why Obama initially responded to the open theft of an election in Iran by professing his confidence in the Iranian government and why the State Department recently cut off funds for the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center in New Haven, Connecticut, which was collecting information on the imprisonment, torture, and murder of those in Iran who protested against the theft of that election (for the details see this post).

It explains the deliberate insults offered Gordon Brown of Great Britain and Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, which I catalogued here and here. And, of course, this explains the speeches given abroad again and again by President Obama, apologizing for American behavior in the past. and signaling a radical shift in American policy.

It is for this change of posture that our President has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. And if you think that the United States is the principal source of evil in the world, you should vigorously applaud. My bet is that in his acceptance speech Obama will confirm Charles Krauthammer's worst fears and my own.

Now, all of the actions of Obama and his administration listed above are true. That does not mean the interpretation of those actions given by Rahe is true. That being said, can you come up with an alternative explanation that encompasses all of the facts listed above and exonerates the President and his motives?

Maybe it is possible, but it doesn't seem likely to me.

I Want The Federal Government Out Of My House

Didn't we kill a whole lot of British once upon a time for something analogous to this?

Cap and trade is back in the news. By the end of this month, Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairwoman Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) is expected to unveil new legislation along the lines of the Waxman-Markey bill, which passed the House on June 26.

That bill contains 397 new regulations. One of them would affect almost everyone who buys or sells a home. If Waxman-Markey becomes law, homes for sale that qualify as “federally related transactions” — which is almost all of them — would be required to undergo an environmental inspection.

Many politicians are upset about depressed housing prices. And true, environmental inspections are one way to raise them. But this is not the way to do it. Sen. Boxer should see to it that the Senate version of cap and trade leaves the environmental inspection provision out.

Inspections are not free. Nor is fixing the inevitable violations. Compliance with new energy-efficiency standards would make homes, especially older ones, more expensive. Selling one’s home would become even harder than it already is in this down market if Waxman-Markey-style cap and trade becomes law.

QandO sees it this way:

Suppose you wanted to sell your house “as is” and let the person who buys it fix it up, for a suitable discount of course.

That is no longer a choice you’ll have. The buyer and seller wouldn’t be allowed to make that decision anymore. The party that continuously claims that “choice” is important to them apparently believe that particular choice is one neither the buyer or seller should have. The transaction is subject to the regulations of Mr. Waxman and Mr. Markey’s bill and you’ll not sell anything government inspectors haven’t deemed “green” enough to sell and certified as such.

Nothing, of course, could go wrong with that, could it? And of course, the article deals with just one of the unintended consequences. Let me again point out that it includes 397 new regulations – that means there’s at least one unintended consequence for each of them (and possibly more) and it will most likely be a nasty surprise.

This is yet another example of governmental over-reach into the lives of ordinary citizens. I use such language deliberately. We are living in an age of a new elected (and unelected) nobility, which sees itself as the intellectual and moral superior of the general citizenry. The vast number of Americans are deemed by the Democrats (and many Republicans for that matter) to be nothing but sheep that need to be led by shepherds - benevolent of course - who will control ever increasing amounts of their lives for their own good.

To be fair, Obama never really hid his desire to control the minutia of our lives up to and including what temperature we set our thermostats to in our own homes. Now, we will be legally unable to sell our own property unless the Democrats deem it politically correct to do so.

Oh, and remember, we're not allowed to call them socialists. That's name calling.

Jimmy Carter On All Opposition To Obama: "They're Racists"

Wow:

In an interview with NBC's Brian Williams, former Democratic President Jimmy Carter attributed much of the conservative opposition that President Obama is receiving to the issue of race.

"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man," Carter said. "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that share the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African Americans."

Carter continued, "And that racism inclination still exists. And I think it's bubbled up to the surface because of the belief among many white people, not just in the South but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It's an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply."

You know, if Carter's head was any further up his ass he'd have a fool in his throat.

UPDATING:

I liked this take from Hot Air:

Deep thoughts from the guy whose book on Israel was most recently plugged by, um, Osama Bin Laden. I’m tempted to tout Jesse Walker’s Reason piece for the third time today on HA as an explanation for Jimmeh’s cynicism here, but I can’t quite do it. The difference between Carter and most of the left, I think, is that he really believes this crap. And, to boot, he really believes he’s doing good by mentioning it rather than poisoning race relations by equating opposition to government expansion with white supremacism.

"Sometimes, the whole world prefers a lie to the truth."

Just in case you need confirmation concerning Obama's immoral stand against the Honduran people: A 'coup' in Honduras? Nonsense.

The White House, the United Nations, the Organization of American States, and much of the media have condemned the ouster of Honduran President Manuel Zelaya this past weekend as a coup d'état.

That is nonsense.

In fact, what happened here is nothing short of the triumph of the rule of law.

To understand recent events, you have to know a bit about Honduras's constitutional history. In 1982, my country adopted a new Constitution that enabled our orderly return to democracy after years of military rule. After more than a dozen previous constitutions, the current Constitution, at 27 years old, has endured the longest.

It has endured because it responds and adapts to changing political conditions: Of its original 379 articles, seven have been completely or partially repealed, 18 have been interpreted, and 121 have been reformed.

It also includes seven articles that cannot be repealed or amended because they address issues that are critical for us. Those unchangeable articles include the form of government; the extent of our borders; the number of years of the presidential term; two prohibitions – one with respect to reelection of presidents, the other concerning eligibility for the presidency; and one article that penalizes the abrogation of the Constitution....

Under our Constitution, what happened in Honduras this past Sunday? Soldiers arrested and sent out of the country a Honduran citizen who, the day before, through his own actions had stripped himself of the presidency.

These are the facts: On June 26, President Zelaya issued a decree ordering all government employees to take part in the "Public Opinion Poll to convene a National Constitutional Assembly." In doing so, Zelaya triggered a constitutional provision that automatically removed him from office.

Constitutional assemblies are convened to write new constitutions. When Zelaya published that decree to initiate an "opinion poll" about the possibility of convening a national assembly, he contravened the unchangeable articles of the Constitution that deal with the prohibition of reelecting a president and of extending his term. His actions showed intent.

Our Constitution takes such intent seriously. According to Article 239: "No citizen who has already served as head of the Executive Branch can be President or Vice-President. Whoever violates this law or proposes its reform [emphasis added], as well as those that support such violation directly or indirectly, will immediately cease in their functions and will be unable to hold any public office for a period of 10 years."
Notice that the article speaks about intent and that it also says "immediately" – as in "instant," as in "no trial required," as in "no impeachment needed."

Once again, this proves the utter dishonesty (or shocking ignorance and stupidity) of President Obama regarding what is and isn't legal in Honduras.

Presidnet Obama should be applauding the Honduran people for standing up for their Constitution, their law, and their democratic way of life. Instead, he wants to offer them up to a Hugo Chavez style dictator.

Whose side is he on I wonder.

Obama's Immoral Choice

In choosing the forces of socialist autocracy in Honduras over the forces of law (the Honduran Supreme Court), order (the Honduran military), and democracy (the Honduran Congress), President Obama has probably shown us all his true colors. His brusque and imperialistic meddling in the affairs of Honduras in support of the attempts of the Castro regime in Cuba and the Chavez regime in Venezuela to destabilize Honduras in pursuit of their "war against the bourgeoisie," clearly shows Mr. Obama is no friend of democracy. Couple this with his practiced silence while Iranian demonstrators were being shot like dogs while clamoring for free and fair elections, and the depth of his antipathy to democracy becomes apparent. And make no mistake, there is no ambiguity to what is going on in Honduras:

Yesterday the Central American country was being pressured to restore the authoritarian Mr. Zelaya by the likes of Fidel Castro, Daniel Ortega, Hillary Clinton and, of course, Hugo himself. The Organization of American States, having ignored Mr. Zelaya's abuses, also wants him back in power. It will be a miracle if Honduran patriots can hold their ground.

That Mr. Zelaya acted as if he were above the law, there is no doubt. While Honduran law allows for a constitutional rewrite, the power to open that door does not lie with the president. A constituent assembly can only be called through a national referendum approved by its Congress.

But Mr. Zelaya declared the vote on his own and had Mr. Chávez ship him the necessary ballots from Venezuela. The Supreme Court ruled his referendum unconstitutional, and it instructed the military not to carry out the logistics of the vote as it normally would do.

The top military commander, Gen. Romeo Vásquez Velásquez, told the president that he would have to comply. Mr. Zelaya promptly fired him. The Supreme Court ordered him reinstated. Mr. Zelaya refused.

Calculating that some critical mass of Hondurans would take his side, the president decided he would run the referendum himself. So on Thursday he led a mob that broke into the military installation where the ballots from Venezuela were being stored and then had his supporters distribute them in defiance of the Supreme Court's order.

The attorney general had already made clear that the referendum was illegal, and he further announced that he would prosecute anyone involved in carrying it out. Yesterday, Mr. Zelaya was arrested by the military and is now in exile in Costa Rica.

That Obama can look at these facts and declare there has been a "coup" is nothing short of despicable.

I know for most Americans the troubles of the Honduran people don't amount to much. It's rare for the country to even get a mention in the newspapers far too few Americans read. But this matters. That Obama has taken the side of dictators in support of the creation of another dictator matters.

We have a President who seemingly believes less in the ideals of the United States then he does in the mad ravings of leftist autocrats.

It's wrong.

Obama Is Either In Over His Head Or A Marxist...

...maybe both.

Police and soldiers clashed with thousands of protesters outside Honduras' national palace Monday, leaving at least 15 people injured, as world leaders from Barack Obama to Hugo Chavez [ed. yeah, that's a real wide spectrum. /eye roll] demanded the return of a president ousted in a military coup....

"It would be a terrible precedent if we start moving backwards into the era in which we are seeing military coups as a means of political transition rather than democratic elections," he added. "The region has made enormous progress over the last 20 years in establishing democratic traditions. ... We don't want to go back to a dark past."

The Organization of American States called an emergency meeting for Tuesday to consider suspending Honduras under an agreement meant to prevent the sort of coups that for generations made Latin America a tragic spawning ground of military dictatorships.

The new government, however, was defiant. Roberto Micheletti, named by Congress to serve out the final seven months of Zelaya's term, vowed to ignore foreign pressure.

"We respect everybody and we ask only that they respect us and leave us in peace because the country is headed toward free and transparent general elections in November," Micheletti told HRN radio.

He insisted Zelaya's ouster was legal and accused the former president himself of violating the constitution by sponsoring a referendum that was outlawed by the Supreme Court. Many saw the foiled vote as a step toward eliminating barriers to his re-election, as other Latin American leaders have done in recent years.

Despite the protests at the palace, daily life appeared normal in most of the capital, with nearly all businesses open. Some expressed relief at the departure of Zelaya, who alienated the courts, Congress, the military and even his own party in his tumultuous three years in power.

"A coup d'etat is undemocratic and you never want to support it, but in the case of this guy and his government, maybe so," said Roberto Cruz, a 61-year-old metalworker.

It's amazing that a country's attempt to forestall a dictatorship, which required the cooperation of the Honduran Congress, the Honduran Supreme Court and the Honduran military, is labelled by Obama as "moving backwards."

Heaven forbid we don't foster leftist autocrats.

Keep dreaming big Obama baby.

Obama: Dictator In The Making?

Well, based upon Obama's open and enthusiastic support for Honduran dictator-in-the-making Manuel Zelaya, it is difficult to say Obama has much respect for the rule of law.

Zelaya was violating his country’s constitution with his referendum that would have, Chavez-style, repealed term limits on the presidency. The Honduras Supreme Court ruled the referendum illegal, and the military refused to distribute the ballots. Instead of backing down, Zelaya fired the head of the military, which precipitated the ouster.

Clearly, democracies cannot abide armed overthrow of elected governments, but that presumes that the government acts within the rule of law. Zelaya had no intention of doing so, and his flagrant violations and attempt to accrue personal power made that crystal clear. Zelaya had begun seizing dictatorial powers, and the military responded by arresting him. The military then handed power back to the legislature rather than keeping it for themselves, which makes this less of a coup and more of a military impeachment.

Obama's attempt to interfere in the domestic politics of Honduras is, of course, the exact opposite of the position he espoused on the campaign trail, and the fact he attempted to interfere to allow for the taking of dictatorial powers by Zelaya should worry all of us. Basically Obama is saying if you are a leftist president everything is permitted and the law should be no hindrance.

That is a scary, scary position for an American president to hold.

Add this to the Democratic penchant to support communist rebels in Columbia instead of the democratically elected government, and you have to ask: What is wrong with these people? Are they stupid or something?

Obama Is A Disgrace

And quite possibly the biggest scum-bag we have ever elected to the office of the Presidency.

What makes me say this? Just look at this:

Even on freedom of religion, Obama could not resist the compulsion to find fault with his own country: “For instance, in the United States, rules on charitable giving have made it harder for Muslims to fulfill their religious obligation” — disgracefully giving the impression to a foreign audience not versed in our laws that there is active discrimination against Muslims, when the only restriction, applied to all donors regardless of religion, is on funding charities that serve as fronts for terror.

Evidently, for Obama, funding the killing of Jews is a religious obligation for Muslims. In one sentence Obama has digraced himself, all Muslims, and every American.

Who was dumb enough to vote for this man?

Typical, Sadly Typical

From Power Line:

Gabriel Schoenfeld blows the whistle on President Obama's decision to name Charles "Chas" Freeman, Jr. as chairman of the National Intelligence Council. This is the outfit responsible for producing National Intelligence Estimates.

Freeman is a shocking choice. He has a long and deep association with Saudi Arabia. In particular, he became president of the Middle East Policy Council in 1997. The MEPC is a mouthpiece for the Saudi government, which finances it. In this capacity, the MEPC has published an abridged version of the notorious essay by John Mearsheimer and Walt, "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy," which argues that American Jews have a stranglehold on the U.S. Congress, and use it to advance Israeli interests at the expense of those of the U.S. According to Schoenfeld, Freeman has expressly endorsed this thesis. It looks like Samantha Power won't be lonely in the Obama administration.

It's true. Here we are in the 21st Century and the Obama administration adheres to the "secret cabal of Jews running the world" model of international relations.

It's morally abhorrent, and par for the Obama course.

Barack Obama: Misogynist

What a winner.

Obama's Plan To Destroy The Economy

At least he's honest about it, for a change:

The problem is, uh, can you get the American people to say, “This is really important,” and force their representatives to do the right thing? That requires mobilizing a citizenry. That requires them understanding what is at stake. Uh, and climate change is a great example.

You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.

Gee, would that be the same "Global Warming" which ceased back in 1998?

Hey, maybe after people start to complain about "skyrocketing" energy costs, Obama can calm fear by nationalizing the energy industry.

Not that he's a socialist or anything.

Reality

This is what reality is:

So how isn't Obama "full of it" when he talks about taxes?

I mean, come on, if for you this distribution isn't "fair" enough, how are you not a socialist?

And if Obama really wants to call those in the Top 50% of wage earners "selfish" for only paying 97% of the income tax in this counrty...

Gleaned from QandO.

Ayers Plotted To Kill 25 Million Americans

Well, thank God this guy is a "valued educator."

Thank God, Barack Obama chose to launch his political career in this guy's living room.

Is There Any Law The Obama Campaign Won't Break

The Obama campaign accepted the following campaign "donation":

So I went to the Obama website this afternoon and clicked on the "Donate" button.

I used my real MasterCard number (but was not asked for the 3 digit security code).

Used the following information and it was accepted...

First name: Fake
Last Name: Donor
Address: 1 Dollar To Prove A Point
City: Fraudulent
State: AL
Zip / Post: 33333
Email Address: allmyinfoismadeup@mediabias.com
Phone Number: 2125551212
Employer: Mainstream Media
Occupation: Being in the Tank

And incredibly, my $5 donation was ACCEPTED!!!

Sadly, this isn't incredible. It is par for the course for the Messiah.

(In case you were wondering, camp McCain routinely reject such fraudulent "donations."

Analogy This

Roland Martin says:

Watching Sen. John McCain and top Republicans swing wildly in their attempts to slam Sen. Barack Obama, with less than two weeks ago to go before Election Day, is like watching an old fighter --clearly out of gas, his legs turned to rubber, and all he can do is grab, hold, punch behind the back, just anything to try to win.

Watching the media attempt to suppress Republican turnout by portraying a tightening election as a fait accompli, is like re-watching the Nazified press in Germany help shut down all political opposition to Hitler in the mid 1930's.

Hmm...the trouble here is my analogy is more apt.

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Man...

...Obama sure does like his Nuremberg rallies.

I guess the kind of political campaign we used to have in this country had to be sacrificed for "change."

What sort of change was that again?

McCain, At Last, Gets It

The attempts to destroy Joe Wurzelbacher have at last laid open what many of us have realized about the Obama campaign for many months now; it is a vile, power hungry machine without pity, remorse or morals. John McCain has finally noticed:

We had a good debate this week. You may have noticed — there was a lot of talk about Senator Obama’s tax increases and Joe the Plumber. Last weekend, Senator Obama showed up in Joe’s driveway to ask for his vote, and Joe asked Senator Obama a tough question. I’m glad he did; I think Senator Obama could use a few more tough questions.

The response from Senator Obama and his campaign yesterday was to attack Joe. People are digging through his personal life and he has TV crews camped out in front of his house. He didn’t ask for Senator Obama to come to his house. He wasn’t recruited or prompted by our campaign. He just asked a question. And Americans ought to be able to ask Senator Obama tough questions without being smeared and targeted with political attacks.

Unfortunately, Obama and his minions have shown they will draw no line, from destroying those who question the chosen one, to stealing the vote of a mentally handicapped person, and everything in between (including verbally assaulting children.)

And for all of those who say this is normal...what the fuck is wrong with you?
