I just looked at the radar for the Twin Cities area and I saw the following images:
I'd say something is coming my way based upon that thin line marching across Minnesota. (And I'm talking about the really thin one in front of the line of storms, which is moving in a different direction then the rest of the weather.)
I hope it's friendly.

Hmm... are you suggesting this could be a line of migratory birds stretching 150+ miles?
Seems a little far fetched. (And the returns dont look much like the ones on that website.)
I think I'd believe the returns to be some sort of technical glitch first.
Good points. I just found out about the birds-on-RADAR thing this past Spring (or what passed for Spring) and I'm still not sure how "they" tell fog from drizzle from birds.
And I'm still not sure what you are talking about (but I'm on way back to study it some more--if insight arrives I'll come back and share it.
OK--I still don't know, but I think the stuff to the right-of-center and center in the pictures is probably squalls and wind-shears--the stuff in the three areas along the left edge looks like what "they" are talking about with the birds.
But recapping--I dunno.
Yeah I tried to make an animated gif of these images (and I did) but I couldnt get it to work on Blogger. On that you can see the little thin semi-circle return march across due East while everything else is going to the north-east.
I guess it could have been something in the upper atmosphere, it just isnt anything I've seen before.
