Oh, Give Me A Break

John Warner is a damn idiot:

An influential Republican senator suggested Thursday that Congress might want to consider reimposing a national speed limit to save gasoline and possibly ease fuel prices.

Sen. John Warner, R-Virginia, asked Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman to look into what speed limit would provide optimum gasoline efficiency given current technology. He said he wants to know if the administration might support efforts in Congress to require a lower speed limit.

Warner than hopped into his private jet for a little weekend golfing on the "coast."

Republicans should impeach Warner for being against American liberties. We have enough problems on this front from socialist "Democrats." We don't need socialist "Republicans" too.

No kidding! A total m0r0n.

As if we need the federal government imposing their idiocy again on highways that were designed for much faster speeds than even the fastest limits in existence today (80mph in parts of northwestern Texas).

Can't you leave well enough alone?
Question for you Senator John Warner:
What insurance company lined your pockets to propose such a STUPID idea???

I'll bet Senator Warner never considered that every 65 mph. highway sign across the nation would have to be changed. How much would that cost? Does he really know how long this gas price bubble will really last? No just blurt out something stupid and collect your Federal paycheck. Thanks for the thought Senator but in the future just leave things to the experts who know something.

I think this is a great idea and am disappointed no one has brought it up before now. It worked well in 1974 and it would work well now. No one needs to drive over 55, where are we going that we have to get there that fast? This is an idea whose time is now and necessary.

Hell, no one "needs" to drive over 35 MPH. I'm sure that would be even spiffier.

If you want to drive 55, especially across Texas, North Dakota or Montana, knock yourself out. No one is stopping you.

Better yet, why dont we ban all cars unless you are a party member? It worked so well in 1974 in the Soviet Union. After all they never had gas lines.

I will accept Warner's 55 mph speed limit when it's extended to private jets occupied by anyone in politics or the entertainment industry. :^)

Tully, don't you know that some carbon footprints are more equal than olthers? :-)
